calendar Two days in on our new eating plan and I’m driving down the street when I realize.. hey, these pants are all loose in my legs! 4 days in and I really notice the room in the seat of my pants. I told you I was going to get vulnerable. And here it is. I carry my weight in my legs. Every pair of pants that I have ever owned has always been tighter in the legs than the designer intended, except for now.

Seven days and Seven pounds…
yeah. I did my weigh in on the 7th day. I’ve lost 7 pounds.

my journey

long-road Ok, I’m going to get a little bit personal and vulnerable here. If you’re still reading, then I feel like we can trust each other at this point. Ok… here goes. I’ve always been a little heavy. There I said it. I know what you are going to say, “but Caleb, I’ve seen you speak and you looked great!”, I know, but I just carry my weight well (and I keep buying bigger clothes). That second part is true and has always been my answer when people ask me if I’ve lost weight “no, I just keep buying bigger clothes” It’s a funny come back, unfortunately it’s also almost always been true.

If you’re reading this, then you missed the correct RSS feed. 🙂 http://calebjenkins.com is now live. I’ve had a good time here at WordPress.com, I just won’t be blogging or updating here anymore. Please update your bookmarks and favorites (unless you just enjoy visiting old… unkept blogs that is. )

Go ahead… go there now.

One of the key differences between Microsoft’s .NET 3.0 full blown Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) and the sub-set Silverlight (formally WPF/e) is that Silverlight doesn’t support true 3D support. (Flash is the same way… if you want the appearance of 3D in flash or Silverlight you have to fake it)

Here is a project that started over at CodePlex that uses that power of the .NET framework to convert / render (fake) WPF 3D over in Silverlight. nice!

These caught my eye earlier today… which may simultaneously explain why I have so many t-shirts in my closet and why my wife no longer lets me buy my own clothes. 😉

Yesterday I saw a podcast where Scoble interviewed Bill Gates and asked when we will see some of the technologies that Bill demoed at last year’s CES  (300kbps – skip ahead about 16 minutes for the interesting stuff in the video) – reactive video and stuff like that; then today I saw this at the mall… it’s pretty cool – The video is projected on the floor in the mall. When you walk over it (or wave our hand) the video responds to your movements.

Dear Fiends and Colleagues,

Yesterday, Jan 5th 2007, was my last day at Microsoft. The email that my manager sent out probably says it best:

“Please join me in saying goodbye to Caleb Jenkins whose last day with Microsoft is today Friday, January 5th.  I know we will all miss Caleb’s passion and enthusiasm for developers and our evangelism business.  Please join me in thanking him for his contributions to our team and in wishing him the very best in his future endeavors!”

First, let me say what an honor and privilege that it has been to work and serve with so many of you as the South Central Microsoft DE for the last year and a half. Second, what’s next for Caleb? I’m not exactly sure what an ex-Microsoft employee like me is going to do. I’m sure that I will still be involved in the community, still enjoy spending time with my family, and probably spend less time on the road. 😉 I’m pretty much keeping my option open. There are several options that are open to me, none that I am able to talk about… yet.

I wanted to take a minute and address some of the different community projects and areas that I was working on to make sure that those continue to move forward without a hitch.

Thank you – and I’m looking forward to seeing all of you again in the future!

– Caleb
